Last chance for taking part in the European ICT Prize competition

If you want to participate in “The 2007 European ICT Prize” competition which is one of the highest endowed prizes in the field of information technology and telecommunications and sponsored by the European Union, you should apply by December 4th at the latest. The best ideas relating to these fields will be awarded with a prize money amounting to 700.000 Euro. Admitted to the competition are companies, universities and other institutions and organisations with their head offices in one of the 33 countries which are member of the EU or associated to it.

When selecting the winners the jury will take into account the following criteria: technical elaboration, innovative character, strategic business planning, the potential of improving competitiveness or creating new jobs, potential market value, new business models and the contribution made in order to strengthen the acceptance of information technology. From all incoming applications 70 will be short listed for “The 2007 European ICT Prize�? and 20 will actually be awarded a prize. Up to three applicants will receive the coveted “ICT Grand Prize Trophy�? from the Commission.

The public award ceremony will take place on March 16th 2007 during the CeBIT exhibition (at 11 o’clock at the Munich Congress Center) with prizes being handed over by High Commissioner Viviane Reding.
