Internet flatrate instead of broadcasting fees

In response to the current discussion about the introduction of GEZ fees for computers ( we reported on this) the Interoute Deutschland internet provider wants to offer a special DSL flatrate called “No GEZ” from January 1st next year. This flatrate is to provide users with all the relevant services of a T-DSL flat rate with the exception of those kinds of content which are subject to GEZ fees.
In other words: all kinds of content provided by public authorities being subject to charges will be blocked by the “No GEZ” flatrate. Thus, the user will be unable to receive this kind of content and should be spared any GEZ fees, if the German parliament agrees, which is still not clear given that exact regulations still have not been defined.
The price to be paid for the fee-free internet access is scheduled to be published in December. Orders may then be passed by phone or over the providerĀ“s website. Further information can be gathered from a newsletter posted on InterouteĀ“s homepage together with information on the availability of the new service.
MittelstandsBlog think: clever idea. However, it remains to be seen whether the blocked content will really help to avoid fees. In any case we wish the provider a lot of success with their idea, which will at least serve as a signal of protest against the GEZ rip-off. GERMAN
