Online encyclopaedia on business informatics available

Since the beginning of this year a genuine knowledge gem is available on the internet for free: an online encyclopaedia for business informatics by Professor Dr. Karl Kurbel and four of his colleagues. A second, extended version of this encyclopaedia has now gone online on the occasion of the international business informatics conference 2009 in Vienna.

This encyclopaedia for business informatics is a joint project in which the majority of professorships at German, Austrian and Swiss universities participate. The authors of this encyclopaedia are more than 170 academics, most of them professors and young scientific experts. “This encyclopaedia has developed an unbelievable immanent dynamism. Many authors develop new ideas and help us to turn this encyclopaedia into a standard reference book”, says Prof. Kurbel.

The new version is a significantly improved and extended edition as compared to the previous one. It contains about 470 articles on the most important terminologies from the field of business informatics as well as more than 230 additional catchwords which are explained. Explanations range from topics such as “Internet der Dinge”, „knowledge management“ over „Web 2.0“ to „IT globalisation“.

The quality of this online encyclopaedia is controlled by the Oldenbourg publishing house in Munich. Visitors are invited to use it for free on http://www.enzyklopaedie-der-wirtschaftsinformatik.de. GERMAN
