Сonsumer prices up by 1.4 % in November

In November 2008 German consumers had to pay on average 1.4% more for products and services than in November 2007. Thus, the increase in November was much smaller than in October this year (+2.4%). As compared to October 2008 prices fell by on average 0.5%. This smaller inflation rate is a consequence of a drop in prices for mineral oil products.

In those six federal states of Germany which have so far made data available prices for fuels fell by between 8.1% and 10.0% as compared to October this year. In comparison with November 2007 fuel prices even decreased by between 11.8% and 14.5%. Prices for heating oil fell by between 5.1% and 13.0% in the period from October to November this year.

The harmonized European consumer price index for Germany will presumably increase by 1.5% in November this year as compared to November 2007. Since October this year it fell by -0.5%. GERMAN
