A prize money amounting to 10,000 Euros is waiting for innovative ideas from the field of mechatronics. As of today individuals or project groups from businesses or scientific institutions may apply for the “Mechatronik 2009” innovation prize awarded by the association of German engineers (VDI). However, applicants should be able to provide an exibihit which may be presented to the general public.
Not only does the combination of mechanics and electronics enable the improvement of existing machines and engines but also the construction of systems and devices providing completely new features. Therefore, mechatronics is a key discipline of traditional engineering in the 21st century. To demonstrate the potential of mechatronics and to promote talented mechatronics engineers and technicians is the mission of this innovation prize.
The award ceremony will take place on the occasion of the “Mechatronik 2009” conference carried out by the VDI on May 12th 2009 in Wiesloch near Heidelberg.
Applications may be submitted until November 30th 2008. Application forms may be downloaded from the internet.
