6.3 percent more turnover in industry

According to provisional figures provided by the Federal Statistical Office, turnover in industry increased by 6.3% in real figures in October this year as compared to October 2006. In the same period domestic turnover increased by 3.4% while that with foreign buyers was up by 10.0%. In comparison to September this year turnover increased by 1.2% in real terms.

Among the most important industries, the sector of broadcasting and communications engineering grew most by 12.8% in October this year as compared to October last year (domestic increase in turnover: +11.0%, foreign turnover: +13.9%), followed by the metal producing industry with a plus of 9.4% (home: +8.0%, abroad: +13.0%). Also positive was the development of turnover in the food industry which grew by 2.3% (home: +1.5%, abroad: +5.8%). However, this increase was significantly smaller than the overall increase in industry.

As compared to September 2007, both domestic turnover as well as turnover with foreign purchasers increased by 0.5% and 2.1% respectively. Within the category of turnover generated abroad, sales in the Eurozone increased by 1.5% while those to all the other regions grew by 2.6%.

The cumulative increase in turnover in the period from January to October 2007 was 6.5% up as compared to the same period in 2006 with domestic turnover increasing by 4.6% and that abroad by 8.9%. GERMAN
