New EU strategy against fiscal fraud

A new strategy against fiscal fraud has been implemented by the Council of the European Union. The new agenda proposed by the EU Commission which is called “Fiscalis 2013” is to improve the co-operation between fiscal authorities and support them in monitoring that the tax rules are more observed by companies. Fiscalis 2013 will also introduce the electronic data exchange between tax authorities.

In practice the new software is to automate the tools for tax audits thereby increasing the efficiency of tax authorities and improve cross-border IT based tax systems within the EU. The IT based system is also supposed to reduce the time needed for the transport of goods which are subject to excise taxes.

The wording of Fiscalis 2013 can be looked up on the pages of the European Commission once it has been published in the Official Journal of the EU. Further information about this new tax software is available online. GERMAN
