Companies which have to be informed about the tax systems of other EU member states are invited to use a brand new information tool called »Taxes in Europe« made available by the European Commission which went online a few days ago. The database contains information on about 500 different types of taxes, on topics such as tax bases, tax exemptions and tax rates applicable. Furthermore it gives information on tax revenues received in the respective tax categories. Access is for free.
For each type of tax the »Taxes in Europe« database contains information on its legal basis, assessment base, on important tax exemptions and statistical data on tax revenues.
It covers all the important tax types such as income tax, corporate tax, value-added tax and excise taxes. Data on most important social security taxes can be found as well in this database which is updated once a year and will soon also include the four member states Cyprus, Ireland, Malta and Portugal.
